James Smart graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Education and Science with a major in Pure Mathematics and is currently teaching both junior and senior mathematics at Alphington Grammar school. James has over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics to students of all ages in both VCE and IB and has written assessment materials for a number of organisations. His passion is creating engaging, relevant and enriching resources that help students connect mathematics in the classroom to the world around them.
Geetha James holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mathematics and Computing, and a Masters in Educational Leadership. She has taught Mathematics in Queensland, Western Australian and Victoria. Her teaching experiences also covers teaching the International Baccalaureate MYP and Diploma programs, and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education: Additional Mathematics curriculum. She has led Mathematics Department in Perth and is now the Head of Mathematics at Methodist Ladies’ College. She has had wide-range of experience in developing resources that develops confidence, engagement and sense of accomplishment in students.
Caitlin is a Mathematics and Physics teacher currently based in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. Beginning her teaching career in 2014 as an associate in the Teach For Australia program, she has since been involved in the creation and development of several learning resources. Before teaching, Caitlin completed studies at The University of Melbourne and worked as a Science and Mathematics communicator, travelling to schools throughout Western Australia. Caitlin believes in creating resources that connect maths to the real world and include explanations using student-friendly language and diagrams.
Beverly Langsford have over 40 years teaching Mathematics, in three different States. Her teaching career commenced in New South Wales, teaching in State schools, both coeducational and girls’ schools, including being Head of Mathematics at a large girls’ school. In South Australia, she was Head of Mathematics at a large private girls’ school and in Victoria, she was a senior mathematics teacher at a coeducational private college, along with other responsibilities. Challenging students to reach their potential in Mathematics has been the cornerstone of my career.
Catherine Smith is a Queensland based mathematics teacher with over 20-years-experience. The majority of her teaching experience has been at St. Paul’s School in Brisbane, where she also held a number of leadership positions in both curriculum and pedagogy. Catherine is a gifted mathematician and teacher, having been awarded the George Edward Curphy Prize in Mathematics and University Medal for Science, and two masters degrees — in Education and Number theory. Catherine has undergone QCAA training for both the Mathematics C course and the new 2019 Specialist Mathematics curriculum and assessment. Catherine has been a lead author for several successful Jacaranda Maths Quest series across junior and senior titles for Queensland, Victoria and the Australian curriculum.
