Jacaranda Learning Framework Workshop

Win a teaching trip to Tanzania with Teachers2Teachers Global, valued at over $4,000 !

We know learning never stops, even for teachers! That’s why we are giving one lucky attendee a professional development trip of a lifetime, where you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and collaborate with local educators.

Teaching is both a science and an art, and each teacher has their own unique methodology that has been crafted for their classroom. This approach has been built through trial and error, observation and experimentation, alongside a deep understanding of the needs of the students in their care.

Here at Jacaranda, we have spent the last 65 years adapting and perfecting our learning framework. Our methodology is based off evidence-based research, which has been proven to support teachers and ensure no student is held back and no student is left behind.

We invite you to this 90-minute event to learn about the Jacaranda learning framework and how it applies across all subject areas. All attendees will hear from our keynote speaker and then break out into subject-specific sessions.

Keynote – 30 minutes

The Jacaranda learning framework
Speaker: Shirly Griffith, Jacaranda’s Director of Publishing and former teacher of 18 years.

Over the years the challenges Australian classrooms face have changed, but two things have remained the same; every classroom has a huge range of abilities and teachers are trying to do more with increasingly fewer resources and support.

We are partnering with teachers to help overcome this, and as a result, have infused our unique evidence-based methodology into every one of our learning resources. This methodology is designed to support you every step of the teaching journey and ensure no student is held back and no student is left behind.

In this keynote presentation, you will learn everything you need to know about the Jacaranda learning framework which is based on learning science, and about how it can support your teaching and help overcome the common challenges you face in your classroom.

Mathematics session – 60 minutes
Giving students the confidence to succeed in mathematics

‘I’m just not good at maths’ – you have heard this before in your classroom, and there is a range of reasons why students fall back to simply saying ‘they can’t’. Students can experience a fear of failure (before they even begin!) or getting something wrong causing them to lose the confidence and stop trying – making it crucial for students to experience success in order to progress in mathematics.

In order to experience success, students need ample opportunity to build upon their knowledge and skills block by block. In this session, we will unpack how our learning science will help your students learn mathematics concepts deeply and effectively through immediate, repeated and mixed practice and through opportunities to think creatively, solve problems, reason and justify and to think deeply.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in we’d love to see you there!
