Next up in this year’s series of conferences for teachers is the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria (HTAV) Annual Conference, held at the Flemington Racecourse from the 20th to the 21st of July. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘History Makers’ and a big focus will be on the new Victorian Curriculum changes. To help teachers prepare for 2017, the event will feature an impressive range of workshops, lectures and practical seminars focusing on this theme and honing in on the changes.
Across both days, the conference will feature more than 60 sessions, including workshops on engaging classroom strategies, up-to-date knowledge of the History discipline, and activities and pedagogy to improve student outcomes. Some of the workshops are “hands-on” or require wireless-enabled devices (a laptop, iPad or tablet) so make sure you check the requirements in advance. Attendees also have the chance to win one of several exciting prizes, which can be found on the HTAV website.
As always, Jacaranda will be in attendance, displaying our exciting new History resources for the 2017 school year. Visit us at stall number 12 and register to receive exclusive event invites, sample resources, valuable teaching resources and more! We look forward to seeing you there and joining you in becoming a ‘History maker’.
