explore the new myWorld Atalses for 2019

Here at Jacaranda, Geography and History are two subjects that are very close to our hearts. Our passion for these subjects is reflected in our popular History Alive, Senior Geography and Geoactive series, as well as our iconic print and digital atlases. Our award-winning Jacaranda myWorld Atlases for Geography and History are two of these much-loved resources. These digital atlases allow students to explore and interact with the different regions and times throughout history – sparking their curiosity with the where, when and what of the world.

As part of our commitment to providing teachers and students with the right and best learning tools, we are continuously seeking new ways to make our resources even better. That’s why we are excited to let you know our myWorld Atlases are getting a makeover, with stunning new globes and additional capabilities – all in an updated HTML format!

Starting from December 2018, here are the new features students and teachers using the Jacaranda digital myWorld Atlases can enjoy:

1. A stunning new HTML design for desktop

Adobe Flash is being retired at the end of 2020, so we have re-created the myWorld Atlases in a stunning new HTML format. Ensuring our myWorld Atlases are future-proofed and will continue to engage students for many years to come.

2. The desktop and iPad versions now match one-to-one

We heard you loved the layout and functionalities from the iPad version of the Atlases, so we are applying the exact same layout and features to our desktop version, making for a seamless and consistent user experience from one device to another.

3. Easily switch between teacher and student view

The myWorld teacher editions come with teacher-specific features such as monitoring and reporting on student results. To easily navigate between the student and teacher views of the platform, we’ve added a button on the globe (find it on the top left-hand side of your screen), so all teachers need to do is click to switch from the teacher view to student view, and vice versa!

4. Updated maps that are bigger and perfect for classroom projection

Explore regions in more detail with updated digital maps, now with a new, beautiful design and improved image resolution. These maps are perfect for classroom projection.

6. Your favourite iPad features for desktop

We have added your favourite features from the iPad version of the atlases to the desktop version. For instance, the popular country/city search feature from the iPad version (for Geography), which allows you to search and pinpoint country and city locations on the globe. As well as access to help and other useful links such as links to your JacPLUS Bookshelf and profile.

For teachers and students who use either (or both!) of the myWorld Atlases, we hope you enjoy these new features as much as we have enjoyed creating them for you. As always, if you have any feedback we would love to hear it, so please feel free to reach out to your local Jacaranda Sales Consultant and let them know.
